PRoFESS: Prevention Regimen for Effectively Avoiding Second Strokes
Aggrenox, clopidogrel, and aspirin are all approved for stroke prevention in those who have already had a recent stroke and the PRoFESS trial is designed to directly compare the efficacy and safety of Aggrenox with clopidogrel in the reduction of recurrent stroke. The trial will also determine if treatment with the angiotensin receptor blocker Micardis produces an effective reduction in the risk of recurrent stroke compared to treatment with placebo on top of standard treatment.
